Graduate Unity High School 1999; Milwaukee School of Engineering-Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Electronics and Bioinstrumentation 2005; Marquette University and the Medical College of Wisconsin Ph.D. in Functional Imaging 2008; From 2003-2005 worked as a graduate research assistant in the Department of Neurosurgery, at the Medical College of Wisconsin, studying vehicle crashworthiness, spinal biomechanics, and head trauma; During his Ph.D. studies he was instrumental in developing new magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques for the spinal cord; Work in spinal cord imaging has led to a reputation as a world-wide leader in state-of-the-art spinal cord imaging techniques; After earning his Ph.D.; he took a position as a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Radiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin studying brain tumor imaging; Received the W.S Moore Young Investigator Award in Clinical Research and 1st place prize in Cancer Imaging at the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM); and currently he is an Assistant Professor of Radiology and Biomedical Physics in the Department of Radiological Sciences in the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

Unity High School Class of 1965; Hamline University, St. Paul, Minnesota, Bachelorof Arts Degree in International Relations 1969; Worked as Editor of the Luck Enterprise Herald Newspaper in Luck, WI, Honeywell, Inc., and Viking Electric Company before entering Hamline University School of Law in 1977, graduating with a. Juris Doctorate Degree in 1980; Admitted to the Western District of Wisconsin Federal Court and all the Circuit Courts of the State of Wisconsin.
Joined the James R. Erickson Law Firm , St. Croix Falls, WI in 1981 and established her own private practice in 1984 where she was the sole practitioner until her daughter joined the practice in 2007, establishing Gionis & Murtaugh Law Office, LLC, in St. Croix Falls.
Certified as a State Public Defender, Assigned Counsel Division, in 1980, and represented hundreds of indigent clients in criminal and mental commitment cases over the years; Family Law has been her primary area of practice and she has represented clients in over ten (10) counties in Northern Wisconsin over the years; Awarded the 2018 Governor's Trailblazer Pioneer Award Honoring Women in Business, celebrating 34 years of business ownership.
